Abstract

This research examines the role of local wisdom and traditional systems in managing natural resources in rural areas of Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach based on literature studies, this research analyzes the interaction between customary values, communal practices, and social dynamics in the context of resource management. The results show that traditional systems still play a significant role in regulating access and utilization of resources, despite facing challenges from development policies and modernization. This study identifies several adaptation mechanisms of traditional values to socio-ecological changes and reveals their potential in supporting sustainable resource management. These findings highlight the importance of recognizing and integrating local wisdom into resource management policies at both local and national levels.
