PEMIKIRAN IMAM AS-SUYUTI TENTANG MAD DAN QASR DALAM AL-ITSQAN FI ULUMUL QUR’AN

Abstract

This study examines the thoughts of Imam Jalaluddin As-Suyuti on the concept of mad and qasr as presented in his work Al-Itqan fi ‘Ulumul Qur’an. Using a descriptive qualitative method through library research, this research explores As-Suyuti’s view that mad and qasr are not merely rules of tajwid but an integral part of the science of qira’ah, which is tauqifi (based on authentic transmission) and carries both semantic and aesthetic dimensions. The findings reveal that variations in the length of recitation serve to beautify and emphasize the meaning of Qur’anic verses, highlighting the importance of harmony between accurate pronunciation, deep comprehension, and recitational beauty in contemporary tajwid learning.
