REKONSTRUKSI EPISTEMOLOGI ULUMUL QUR’AN AZ-ZARQANI SEBAGAI SOLUSI STUDI AL-QUR’AN KONTEMPORER

Contemporary Qur’anic studies face epistemological challenges due to the growing influence of modern critical approaches that often diverge from classical Ulumul Qur’an traditions. This situation necessitates an epistemological reconstruction capable of preserving the authority of revelation while maintaining academic relevance. This study focuses on reconstructing the epistemology of Ulumul Qur’an in the thought of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Abdul ‘Aẓīm az-Zarqānī through his work Manahil al-Irfān fī ‘Ulūm al-Qur’ān, aiming to assess its potential as a solution for contemporary Qur’anic studies. Employing a qualitative library research approach, the study analyzes Manahil al- Irfān as the primary source alongside internationally reputable scholarly articles as secondary sources. Data are examined using content analysis and conceptual hermeneutics. The findings reveal that az-Zarqānī formulates an integrative epistemology that systematically combines revelation, reason, and historical awareness. This epistemological framework strengthens Ulumul Qur’an as a methodological foundation for critical, contextual, yet normative Qur’anic scholarship.
