Abstract

Indonesia as a country with a high risk of natural disasters, necessitates sufficient disaster mitigation literacy, particularly among the younger generation. This community service initiative seeks to enhance digital literacy for disaster mitigation among elementary school students in Molotabu Village. The program was designed to address challenges related to the lack of knowledge about disaster mitigation and limited access to digital technologies. The methods employed include participatory and educational approaches encompassing needs assessment, development of training modules, implementation of training sessions, and evaluation and monitoring processes. The results indicated a 40% improvement in students’ understanding of disaster mitigation concepts, as evidenced by post-training evaluation scores. Furthermore, students demonstrated the ability to utilize Android-based applications to access disaster-related information and mitigation strategies. Despite these achievements, challenges such as inadequate technological infrastructure and varying levels of digital literacy remain. This program illustrates that a participatory approach, complemented by digital technology, can effectively enhance community preparedness for disasters. With ongoing development, this initiative has the potential to foster a more resilient and self-reliant generation in facing future disaster risks.
