Abstract

The gap between curriculum targets in madrasas and the reality of home mentoring is a crucial factor hindering students' cognitive development. Within the environment of MTSS Darul Qur’an Al-Islamy Muara Bulian, many parents remain trapped in the conventional paradigm that learning is solely about reading textbooks and memorizing formulas. This instructional and often coercive interaction pattern actually creates emotional barriers, leading students to feel anxious and lose motivation when facing literacy and numeracy materials outside of school hours. In fact, literacy is more than just the ability to spell, and numeracy is not merely about quick calculations; both are essential life skills that require contextual and consistent stimulation.

The lack of access to education-based parenting references makes the fun learning method unfamiliar to the target community. Through this Community Service (PkM) activity, parents are not only provided with theory but are also trained to transform domestic activities into interactive learning media. For instance, using cooking recipes for reading and writing literacy or calculating daily groceries to enhance numeracy understanding. By transforming the home into an inclusive and low-pressure learning laboratory, it is expected that there will be an increase in self-efficacy for both parents and students. This synergy is the key to ensuring that national literacy and numeracy programs do not remain mere slogans, but instead become a flourishing culture within the extended family of MTSS Darul Qur’an Al-Islamy.
