PENYULUHAN DAN PELATIHAN PERILAKU HIDUP BERSIH SEHAT SERTA EDUKASI TOGA PADA KELOMPOK WARGA KELURAHAN PEDUNGAN, DENPASAR

Abstract

Most public health problems are related to unhealthy environmental conditions and poor hygiene behavior. Data from the Ministry of Health indicate that around 30% of diseases are influenced by environmental factors. This challenge is evident in Pedungan Subdistrict, Denpasar, which has more than 50,000 residents with high population density and mobility, increasing health risks if not balanced by the implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS). This community service program aimed to improve residents’ knowledge and skills in practicing PHBS and managing a healthy home environment. Interventions included PHBS education, yard arrangement through waste segregation and the use of family medicinal plants (TOGA), as well as the provision of cleaning tools and separated waste bins. The program was conducted through preparation, interactive education and demonstrations, and evaluation using pretest and posttest. Success was defined if at least 70% of participants achieved a posttest score above 70. The results showed significant knowledge improvement, with more than 70% of participants reaching posttest scores above 70. Practical changes were also observed, such as providing separated waste bins, routinely cleaning water containers, improving simple ventilation, and planting TOGA in pots or home yards. High participant engagement indicated strong acceptance of the program. Overall, the combination of education, demonstration, and material support effectively promoted healthy behavior change at the household level, although continued monitoring is needed to ensure sustainability.
