Abstract

This community service research aims to describe and evaluate the implementation of a Sharia entrepreneurship model as an economic empowerment strategy for santri (students) at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jalal Muara Tebo. The background for this activity is the significant potential of santri in developing micro and small enterprises, which often remains underexploited due to limited access to entrepreneurial knowledge and an understanding of business practices compliant with Islamic Sharia. This community service program was designed to bridge this gap while fostering economic independence among the santri.

The method used in this service is a participatory approach, actively involving the santri in every stage. This includes identifying business potential, basic entrepreneurship training (covering aspects such as management, digital marketing, and business feasibility studies), and mentoring business practices based on Sharia principles like akad mudharabah (profit-sharing partnership), musyarakah (joint venture), and Islamic business ethics. The training focused on practical skills relevant to the local market needs in Muara Tebo

The results of the activity show a significant increase in the santri's interest and entrepreneurial capabilities. This is evidenced by the formation of several santri-managed startup business units, such as local food processing, handicrafts, and simple digital services. The santri also demonstrated a better understanding of Sharia economic principles in their business activities, including transparency, justice, and blessings (barakah). The implementation of this Sharia entrepreneurship model not only enhanced the santri's Sharia financial literacy but also created new and sustainable economic opportunities, aligning with the pesantren's goal of self-reliance. The implication of this service is that the Sharia entrepreneurship model has great potential for replication in other Islamic boarding schools as an effort to empower their communities economically.
