Abstract

This community service project aims to deconstruct and apply modernization thinking as an empowerment strategy for Karang Taruna (Youth Organization) in Belanti Jaya Village, Mersam District, Batanghari Regency. While modernization is often associated with technological advancement, it's crucial to understand its broader dimensions, including social, economic, and cultural aspects. The initiative is driven by the potential of Karang Taruna as a local agent of change, needing to be equipped with modern understanding and skills to address contemporary challenges in their community. The methods used included needs identification through focused group discussions (FGDs) with Karang Taruna members, interactive training on digital literacy, modern organizational management, and the development of creative economic potential based on simple technology, as well as mentoring innovative program implementation. The results show an increased understanding among Karang Taruna members regarding modernization concepts relevant to their local context, an enhanced capacity in utilizing technology for communication and promotion, and the emergence of new initiatives in developing more adaptive and sustainable activities. It's hoped that this inclusive and participatory modernization thinking can form a strong foundation for Karang Taruna in Belanti Jaya Village, Mersam District, Batanghari Regency, to continue innovating and actively contributing to their community's development independently.
