Upaya Sma Nurul Khoir Jambi Dalam Menangani Peserta Didik Dengan Tingkat Kehadiran Rendah

Abstract

This research aims to comprehensively analyze and describe the strategic efforts undertaken by SMA Nurul Khoir Jambi in addressing cases of students with low attendance rates (chronic absenteeism). Low student attendance is an indicator of poor behavioral engagement and potentially hinders academic achievement. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the Principal, Vice Principal for Student Affairs, Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers, and documentation studies of student attendance records. The findings indicate that the dominant factors contributing to absenteeism are low student motivation and a lack of effective collaboration from the families. To tackle this issue, SMA Nurul Khoir Jambi implements a three-tiered strategy: 1) Preventive, by strengthening a positive school culture; 2) Intervention, through tiered counseling procedures and the home visit program, which proved to be the most effective method for parental involvement; and 3) Corrective, through the application of educational sanctions based on restorative justice. This study concludes that the key to successful handling lies in the active collaboration between the BK teacher and the family, supported by a structured disciplinary monitoring system.
