Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing gamification in an e-learning system on students' motivation, participation, and academic performance at Nurul Jadid University longitudinally. In the era of digital transformation of education, gamification has become a strategic approach to increase learning engagement through structured game elements. Using a qualitative method with a case study design, this study relies on data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation from various parties such as guardians, Islamic boarding school administrators, students, students, and educational institutions. The research findings show that gamification contributes positively to increasing intrinsic motivation, active participation in online learning, and students' academic outcomes. The practical implications of this study indicate the need for strategic and sustainable integration of gamification in the development of e-learning platforms in Islamic boarding school-based higher education environments. This study also enriches the literature by providing contextual and longitudinal perspectives in examining the effectiveness of educational gamification.
